MHS Library Media Center Policies & Procedures - Teachers Textbooks
1. Teachers and staff (and students) may check their record of textbook and library materials at any time by clicking on MHS Catalog > MHS > LOG IN, top right> ID number = User> last name = Password > open the MY INFO tab. If Destiny will not accept your password, contact Mrs. Roff.
2. As a cautionary note, do not accept or keep textbooks (or other materials) not checked out to you. Return these items to the media center ASAP. This protects all concerned.
3. Never collect student textbooks (or other materials) with the intention of returning them FOR students. This is their responsibility. It is not uncommon for a student to mistakenly return a textbook from a teacher’s class set or one belonging to a classmate. If the student is present, we can catch the mistake and assist.
4. An AP or Dean in charge of textbooks, scans the barcode of every textbook in the school. Lost or misplaced textbooks are often retrieved during this process.
5. All textbooks slated for removal / disposal are overseen by the AP in charge of textbooks and Mr. Neumann, county textbook coordinator.
6. The bookkeeper’s office receives and processes new textbooks and forwards them to the media center for disbursement. Contact our bookkeeper to track the progress of an order.
7. The media center houses barcoded items that will circulate. All other materials, such as disposable workbooks, are forwarded to your department head. Agree to dispose of unwanted, unbarcoded items through your departments.
8. See the AP in charge of textbooks if you have a textbook request or concern. The media center’s involvement is limited to providing access and circulation.
